Trend Focus: Mustard

23rd Jun 2018

Mustard is a bit of a reigning champion in the interior design world. We've seen it introduced over the last couple of years and it's here to stay. It's such a versatile colour for interiors, suiting both light and dark schemes and works perfectly in every season.

Here are our top picks for incorporating the mustard trend in to your home.

When it comes to your living room the sofa is always going to be a focal point so why not take a walk (or should we say seat) on the wild side by opting for something a bit more eye-catching. The Matera sofa, available from Heal's is a timeless design but opting for Nobillis Mustard Velvet really makes it a stand out piece. Not feeling brave enough for a mustard sofa? Why not opt for a pop of mustard in the form of an accent chair - Bo Concept's Reno Armchair is elegant and curvy – and in their mustard Napoli fabric it would fit perfectly into a Scandinavian colour palette.

Top tip: combine mustard with neutrals and a pop of greenery for a super cool Scandi look.

A statement rug from Wilson Lewis Carpets and Flooring in Redbrick is a great way to add colour and pattern to your home, the Brink and Campman Rug celebrates the Scandi colour palette with it's calming tones and abstract print.

Why not experiment with using accents of mustard to provide a colourful feature to the room - The Bahia Dining Chair, available from Calligaris is a great way to brighten a neutral dining space. If you're feeling playful, the Birdy from now! by hülsta is a stylish and multi-functional piece that can act as a casual extra seat or as a comfortable footstool.

Top tip: keep your surroundings simple and still achieve a wow effect with smaller accents of mustard, such as the Albert Cluster Pendant, available from MADE.COM or the HAY Soft Dot Cushion available from Urbansuite.

Dare to be dark. Mustard also looks great with dark colours - a great way to bring colour into your home in through artwork – such as Barry Hilton's Shades of Dawn, available from The Smart Gallery.
